The Stone of Enchantment (1929) Granollers

We enter the home of Peret, a quiet and very pleasant grandfather, where everything is clean and tidy and smells good. On the shelves, overflowing with books, our attention is caught by the figure of a round, flat stone. He explains that it's a reproduction of the Piedra del Encanto (Stone of Enchantment) in Granollers' Plaza de la Porxada, which was left there by a flood. He himself created a cake with the same shape in honor of his city. He also shows us the latest book he's published about Granollers. It's already his fifth! He invites us to sit on his balcony overlooking the square, where it's cooler. "This is Antonia," he says, pointing to a three-foot-high sandpaper goose he has placed facing the street. In fact, many of us have seen it because it glows at night. Antonia watches over the square day and night. Peret is a very cultured person with many interests. As a young woman, he made collectible dolls in their regional costumes from around the world, all handmade: the dresses, the shoes, the hair... True pieces of craftsmanship. Peret tells a very endearing and funny story about how he and his wife met and fell in love. What we can tell you is that, although she's no longer with us, he's still as in love with her as he was on the first day.
