Born in a small town in Burgos, Teresa moved with her family to Catalonia when she was three years old, and settled in Granollers at the age of 15. A nurse by profession, she has dedicated her life to caring for others, especially children: she worked for many years with a pediatrician, helped in a school cafeteria, and was also a sales assistant in a children's clothing store. Now retired, she continues to be available to others every day. At 90 years old, Teresa gets up every morning without a hint of laziness to go to her aquagym class, driving her Seat 600 with agility and liveliness. Since getting her license 50 years ago, she has always driven this model of car; this is her third. After the pool, she heads to the El Xiprer shelter in Granollers to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. With a great sense of humor and a positive attitude, she faces each day with a genuine smile and a heartfelt hug, which are often enough to make you want to keep going for another day. "You've gone overboard with all the compliments," she'd say, but Teresa is more than just a volunteer. She does laundry, folds clothes, cooks, and, as if that weren't enough, she listens, chats, and enthusiastically loves anyone who comes to El Xiprer and needs it. Hopefully, one day, El Xiprer will have to close its doors because it is no longer needed, but as long as she lives, may Teresa's smiles, hugs, and generous spirit never be lacking.
