Caregiver (1920-2022) Granollers

Montserrat Cortines (Tines) was born into a hard-working family. Always attentive to others, she had a huge heart and was loved wherever she went. Her direct, uncomplimentary approach was one of her defining traits, making her both fun and special. Throughout her life, she worked hard, tirelessly, overcoming all obstacles with intelligence and an admirable attitude. She only attended school for a short time because she was very mischievous. At 12, she began working in a family home, caring for a child. Tines was a vital support for this family when her father died, leaving behind five young children. She supported them unconditionally, with immense generosity and love throughout her life, one generation after the next. She married and had a daughter, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, all of whom she was very proud of. The devastating blow of her daughter's death did not stop her from continuing to care for everyone she loved. She was very pretty and not at all boastful, with green eyes and a mischievous gaze. She was a wonderful cook, and among her signature dishes were cabbage farcellets. At 100 years old, she still went downtown every day, carrying a jug of water inside her trolley to provide a counterweight, and, at the same time, she concealed the fact that she needed assistance to walk. “A cane? No way. It’s an old-fashioned thing!” she would say. Covid took a brave and good woman whom many people remember.
