A good friendship is priceless
There are many ways to do things for others: you just need to value what you know how to do and share it. Bárbara has found her way. Now 89 years old, she has been giving free gymnastics classes to senior citizens on Barceloneta beach for the past 29 years. She started exercising when she retired at 60.

With a lot of free time, she learned to ride a bicycle and often went to the beach. There she joined a group of women who exercised, and soon she became the leader.
Since then, she hasn't stopped teaching anyone who wants to join. She currently leads groups of up to 80 people. She makes them move their entire body and doesn't let any bad posture go unchecked. "If we have to repeat something, we repeat it, and nobody complains." Bárbara, as forceful as her name suggests, is demanding. But everyone agrees that she is a kind, caring, and unique person who inspires encouragement, discipline, and good humor. She says that many women who arrive feeling sad, alone, or grieving are transformed in just a few weeks.

What moves her most, she says, isn't the recognition, but when someone tells her they feel better, more alive, stronger. It's clear that Bárbara is more than a teacher. She's companionship, routine, and above all, hope.
